Start with the correct ferry service
This guide and its linked calculator cover Gozo Channel between Ċirkewwa and Mġarr. The standard passenger ticket covers one round trip. Ticket validation takes place in Gozo.
Gozo Highspeed and the harbour ferries around Valletta are separate services with their own tickets and conditions. Do not use a Gozo Channel fare to price a Sliema to Valletta crossing. Personalised tallinja free travel on eligible harbour ferries also does not make every Malta ferry free.

Price each passenger once
The standard adult passenger fare is €4.65. The listed fare for eligible Gozo residents is €1.15 with the required identity evidence. Children aged 3 to 12 pay €1.15. Infants aged 0 to 2 travel free but still need an infant ticket.
Senior and resident categories have specific conditions. Choose them only when each traveller qualifies. Night fares and special schemes can differ; check the operator if they apply to your journey.

The driver is already in the car fare
The standard fare for a car up to 5.3 metres and its driver is €15.70. Add the other passengers, not the driver again. Longer vehicles and other vehicle types need their own tariff.
One standard car, two adults in total and two children aged 3 to 12
- Car and driver: €15.70.
- One additional adult: €4.65.
- Two children: 2 × €1.15 = €2.30.
- Total for the return trip: €22.65.

Turn a trip into a realistic monthly budget
Multiply the return-trip total by completed return trips, not by individual sailings. A person travelling out and back on five days each week makes five return trips.
Keep the travel to the port separate. Add fuel, buses and parking to the household budget only once. For frequent commuting, check the operator’s commuter products before assuming that the standard fare is the cheapest applicable option.
A fare estimate is not a reservation. The operator uses first-come boarding and a ticket does not secure a specific sailing. Leave time for queues when a connection or work start time matters.
