Check the workings.

Every published tariff has a source. Every estimate has a boundary.

What the dates mean

Cost sources were checked on . A review date is not a promise that a tariff will stay unchanged. Historical prices retain their own observation dates. Confirm current terms with the operator before paying or applying.

Calculations stay in your browser. Results are rounded to the nearest cent for display; intermediate calculation values retain precision. Small rounding differences can occur when adding displayed lines.

Bus fares

Fare × separate paid journeys × travel days. The selected fare is held constant for the travel weeks you enter. The annual scenario divided by 12 gives the average month.

Two-hour transfers can share a ticket. Personalised tallinja eligibility and excluded routes matter. Annual results do not automatically split summer and winter.

Gozo Channel

Return passenger fares plus, when selected, one car-and-driver fare, multiplied by return trips.

The driver is included in the car fare. Reduced fares require eligibility. Only Gozo Channel passenger cars up to 5.3 metres and foot travel are supported.

Residential electricity

Allocate consumption across the household tariff bands, prorate by billing days, then add the service charge. An optional eco-reduction uses the published thresholds and your assumed eligibility.

Residential accounts only. Utility bills can include credits, account changes and reconciliations outside this period estimate. An assumed eco-reduction is not confirmed entitlement.

Residential water

Prorate the annual lower band of 33 cubic metres per registered person. Charge remaining use at the higher rate and add the prorated annual service charge.

Use registered occupants for the period. Zero registered occupants require a different tariff. Account history and changing household registration can affect the official bill.

Fuel and parking

One-way kilometres × 2 × days × litres per 100 km ÷ 100 × price per litre, plus entered parking. Annual cost uses your travel weeks.

The default price is blank. Optional reference prices are dated 26 October 2026, not live quotes. Ownership costs, servicing, finance and other journeys are excluded.

BCRS deposits

Eligible containers × €0.10. Subtract the deposit value recovered on accepted returns from the deposit value paid.

Refunds recover a deposit already paid. Container eligibility, accepted returns and voucher conditions apply.

Household budget

Monthly amounts are unchanged. Weekly amounts are multiplied by 52 and divided by 12. Annual amounts are divided by 12. Add the monthly amounts and, if requested, divide equally by household size.

Uses your own figures. It is not a national average, an affordability test or a financial recommendation.

Business grants

The grants checker compares your answers against selected published scheme rules. A result is a shortlist to investigate, not an award or eligibility decision. Grant source review: . Financial tests, prior aid, linked businesses, project scope and remaining funds can change the outcome.

Editorial approach

Guides explain the assumptions behind a calculator, give worked examples and link to primary sources. We do not present keyword research as evidence of a price, invent typical household budgets or claim a government endorsement.

Figures that depend on an individual assessment are linked to the relevant official service. See other official Malta tools and our practical guides.

Keeping the information useful

Transport and utility tariffs need checking when an operator announces a change. Fuel references need a new observation date each time they are refreshed. Time-sensitive guides should be reviewed before publication. Your saved summary includes the assumptions and source links used for that result.
