What this includes
- For cash or contactless, enter separate paid ticket windows, not every boarding. Transfers within a valid two-hour ticket do not need another ordinary ticket.
- For personalised tallinja on Direct routes, count each charged journey. The operator quotes a fare per journey.
- Free travel requires a valid personalised tallinja card and a tap on every boarding. This covers ordinary day, night and included special services. On Demand is outside this estimate.
- Card application, postage, replacement and other card fees are not included. Explore and 12-journey products are not compared.
- Annual cost assumes 52 identical travel weeks at the selected fare. Monthly average is annual cost divided by 12; it is not a four-week month.
- Winter day fare is published for 18 October 2026 to 12 June 2027. A full-year winter or summer result is a constant-fare scenario, not a seasonal forecast.

Before you use the number
Does changing buses mean paying twice?
Not necessarily. On eligible services, a cash ticket is valid for two hours. Count a new paid journey only when another ticket is needed. A morning commute and an evening commute normally fall into separate fare windows.
Why is the monthly figure different from four weeks?
The monthly estimate spreads the annual total across 12 months. With 52 travel weeks, that is about 4.33 weeks a month. Reduce the weeks you travel to account for holidays or time away.
Are all buses free with tallinja?
No. A personalised card must be valid and tapped when boarding. Tallinja Direct and other excluded services can still charge a fare. Select the service you actually use and check the operator conditions.
